The Surfingskill Image Compressor helps reduce JPG, PNG and WebP file sizes directly in your browser. Instead of using one confusing percentage slider for every situation, the tool offers three clear workflows: Smart compression, Target KB and Manual Quality.

Three Ways to Compress Images

Smart ModeChoose Gentle, Balanced or Small and let the tool use sensible size and quality settings.
Target KBEnter a maximum size such as 500 KB. The compressor tries to stay below that target when possible.
Manual QualityControl the quality level yourself when you want a more predictable visual tradeoff.
Batch CompressionSelect multiple images, process them together and download the results individually or in one ZIP.

How to Compress an Image

  1. Choose one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images.
  2. Start with Smart mode and Balanced preset for general use.
  3. Use Target KB when an upload form has a file-size limit.
  4. Open Advanced settings if you need WebP/JPG/PNG output, smaller dimensions or filename controls.
  5. Click Compress Images.
  6. Compare the original and compressed preview, then download the result.

What Is Target KB Compression?

Target KB mode gives the compressor a maximum file-size goal. The browser-image-compression library can reduce image quality and, when needed, image dimensions to approach that size. Exact output cannot be guaranteed because every image has different colors, details and compression characteristics.

JPG, PNG or WebP: Which Output Should You Choose?

JPG

JPG is usually a practical choice for photos. It uses lossy compression and does not support transparency.

PNG

PNG is useful for graphics and transparent images. It is lossless, so a PNG can remain larger than an equivalent JPG or WebP. A normal quality slider does not affect PNG in the same way it affects lossy image formats.

WebP

WebP is widely supported by modern browsers and can often produce small web images at useful visual quality. The smallest format still depends on the individual source image.

Important: "without losing quality" should not be treated as an absolute promise. Lossy compression can remove image information. The aim is to reduce file size while keeping the visible result acceptable for the intended use.

Why Compress Images for Websites?

Smaller image files can reduce the amount of data a page needs to download, which can improve loading speed. However, image optimization is only one part of web performance, and compression by itself does not guarantee a particular SEO ranking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

The compression workflow in this version runs locally in the browser. The external JavaScript libraries are downloaded from CDNs, but the selected image data is processed on the device by the page code.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. The batch queue supports multiple JPG, PNG and WebP files, and converted outputs can be collected into a ZIP.

Can I compress an image to 100 KB or 500 KB?

You can enter a target size in Target KB mode. The tool will try to stay under the requested maximum when possible, but some images may need substantial quality or dimension reduction and an exact size cannot be promised.

Why did my PNG not become much smaller?

PNG is a lossless format, so it behaves differently from JPG and WebP. If file size is more important than transparency or lossless output, try WebP or JPG.

Does the tool change image dimensions?

Only when your chosen mode or Advanced maximum-dimension setting requires it. You can leave dimensions unchanged for normal quality-based compression.

Does this tool remove metadata?

Generated compressed files generally do not retain all original image metadata. The tool does not preserve EXIF metadata by default.

Final Words

This Surfingskill Image Compressor is designed like a small compression studio rather than a basic one-slider tool. It keeps the first workflow simple while adding batch processing, Target KB compression, before-and-after comparison, output conversion and advanced sizing controls when you need them.
